"Welcome to our home page. ECHS is proud to let you have a look at our school activities and current events. Work on these pages was created and produced by students."
These words have welcomed the world to the Stony Creek Joint Unified School District website for 12 years. Since the fall of 1995 our presence has been available on the World Wide Web. The original site was designed, coded and maintained by the students of Elk Creek High School and hosted by the Glenn County Office of Education. In December 2007 Stony Creek chose to contract with IES, Inc. (Interactive Educational Services Inc.) the number one provider of Web-based communication portals to K-12 schools and districts in the US. We will be using IES’s “Cyberschool” a web-based tool that will connect teachers, students, and parents. The Cyberschool program will allow for the development, hosting, and maintenance of a fully functioning website for our District and schools. Administrators, teachers, and staff will have unlimited and flexible web pages which will include calendars, scrapbooks and much more. Students will continue to make contributions to our website. We thank everyone past and present who have visited and browsed our website. We hope you will continue to return and browse to see what’s happening in the Stony Creek Joint Unified School District.

Dear Parents and Community Members,
Welcome to the Stony Creek Jt. Unified School District! The upcoming school year will provide a new and exciting educational opportunity for our students. As your new superintendent, I look forward to working with parents and our excellent staff as we continue to improve our educational program.
Mathematics education has quickly become a major focus of our district with the recent mandate from the California State Board of Education that All 8th grade students will be required to take Algebra I by 2010. One of our goals is to dramatically increase the number of eighth grade students who successfully complete a full-year Algebra I course.
To support our mathematics program, the District will begin using newly adopted textbooks. The textbooks are aligned with the State of California standards which are constructed to provide the required standards to all students to support the new mandate of Algebra I for all 8th grade students.
As partners in the education of your children, we look to you to reinforce the work of teachers by monitoring homework assignments. In addition, I encourage you to become actively involved at your school. Participation on the Parent Teacher Association, School Site Council, school clubs and booster groups is an excellent way to become involved.
I would also encourage you to implement a few research based strategies with your child/young adult found in the “Helping Your Child at Home” which will be included in the 2008-2009 Student/Parent Handbook that you will receive the first day of school.
Encourage your Child to Read: It’s the single most important thing you can do to help your child succeed in school.
We have a new employee who has joined our team and will begin serving your students on August 13th, the first day of school. Mr. Jeff Flynn will teach Social Science at the high school.
Enclosed is your student’s STAR student report from the California Standards Test. There is a guide included to assist you in reading and understanding this report. If you have any questions, I will be happy to meet with you and review the results of your child’s educational progress.
During the year, I look forward to visiting the schools and meeting and getting to know students, parents, and staff. By working together, we can ensure that our students become successful and lifelong learners.
Most sincerely,
John T. McIntosh
Superintendent
